Common questions.

Can it fix the bite when the registration is missing, open, or clearly wrong?

Yes, that is what it is for. OccluTrace computes the static bite from the upper and lower arch scans alone: no buccal bite, wax rim, or third scan needed. When the exported bite is missing or unreliable, it recovers a usable one instead of leaving you to hand-align in CAD.

Does it reshape my teeth, or only move the arches?

It only repositions. OccluTrace finds where the lower arch should sit against the upper and returns your scan surfaces exactly as you uploaded them, just in the aligned position. Nothing is smoothed, filled, trimmed, or resculpted.

How do I know the bite it picked is right? Is it a black box?

Every result is inspectable before you accept it: a contact heatmap, penetration depth in millimetres, a confidence signal, and the original pair shown next to the aligned one. You choose to accept, retry, or flag it as a failure; nothing exports on its own.

How long does a case take?

About 13 seconds per case on our production GPUs: you upload, wait, and download the aligned mesh. It is fast enough to check every incoming case before it reaches a CAD technician.

Which scanners and file types does it take, and where does the result go?

Open meshes (STL, OBJ, PLY) plus source files from 3Shape, with explicit format checks for 3Shape, Medit, iTero, Carestream, Planmeca, and Shining 3D. The aligned upper and lower import directly into exocad, 3Shape Design Studio, Meshmixer, or Blender, and the Windows Connector plugs into exocad.

Does it handle a single quadrant, a partial arch, or a bite-only scan?

Not yet. OccluTrace is tuned for full upper and lower arch pairs; quadrants, partials, single-tooth, and bite-only scans reduce reliability. If you are unsure whether a case fits, send it and we will tell you before you spend a credit.

What does a case cost, and is it worth running on a one-off problem bite?

You pay per work order, with no subscription and no monthly minimum, and confirmed failures are refunded. Because it is per case, it works for a single troublesome bite as well as daily volume, and 10 work-order credits are included to try it, no card required.
